Play Store Can’t Download Apps ! Fixed

Play Store Can’t Download – Google Play Store is the most trusted app to download apps and games for your Android smartphone. But what happens when you can’t download apps and games? Quite a number of Android users have complained about the unable to download issue that they see when trying to download their favorite app or game.

Play Store Can't download

This issue occurs when you start a download on the Play Store. And under the My Apps and games menu, you see this issue with the option to cancel the download. There could be many causes behind this Play Store not downloading problem. Let’s take a look at all of them one by one below.

The following are some ways that you can do if you have a problem with the Play Store that can’t download and is pending. Please try in order until the last option you can do.

Play Store Can’t Download Apps! Fixed

1. Canceling All Downloads

The Play Store automatically downloads and installs the latest version of the app on your device. However, it is possible that the app you are trying to download is in the queue. And hence you are seeing this download pending error. To fix this, go to the Play Store and tap on the menu icon and select My apps and games.

To cancel app download, tap the ‘ x ‘ button or tap the Stop button to cancel all downloads at once. You can then download the apps you want first before proceeding with another update.

2. Check your Wi-Fi and Internet Connections

The problem of Play Store download loading continuously may occur because of the internet connection you have. Your Wi-Fi may not be working as intended or very slow for some reason. See if enabling the Wi-Fi switch helps you download apps using your mobile data plan.

On the same day, it may also happen that your mobile data plan is not working or it is too slow to download apps. In that case, connect to a different Wi-Fi network or ask your friend to start tethering their mobile hotspot. We also recommend that you turn off your data plan and re-enable it to see if that fixes this Play Store download pending error.

3. Disable Your VPN

People who care about their privacy probably use a VPN. Some people also use a VPN to open access to sites that are restricted by the region of the country. We usually use it to increase Internet speed and block ads.

Recent updates may have broken something. If so, it’s worth trying and disabling your VPN connection. See if that fixes the Play Store download that keeps loading error.

4. Clear your Play Store Data

Play Store may be malfunctioning due to some residual data or cache memory. To clear old data and cache, go to Settings and go to Apps and find Google Play Store.

Once logged in, we recommend first force-quitting the Play Store app and then tap on Clear data to Clear all data (this will wipe data and cache).

You may be asked to sign in to your Google account again when you open the Play Store. Do it and see if that helps solve the Play Store Can’t Download Apps problem.

Repeat the same process, but this time for the Google Play Services app which you will find under the Settings and Apps menu.

5. Application Preferences

It should be noted that this method can wreak havoc on your phone. So we will recommend you to do it only if other methods don’t work. There is an option to reset Hidden app preferences within app settings.

This will reset app preferences and settings of all installed default or third-party apps. So you have to set everything up again. We will cover resetting app preferences in detail.

To do so, go to Settings, tap on Apps and then open the menu.

When you select the Reset app preferences option above, you will get a popup menu saying what will happen. Tap on Reset apps to initiate changes.

6. Change Date and Time Settings

Most smartphones will automatically set the correct date and time using your carrier and geographic location. But sometimes this will cause conflicting time settings.

To change the date and time, go to Settings and tap on Additional Settings, and select Date & time.

Now enable Automatic date & time and set both manually. Also, check the timezone is correct while you are there.

Some users have reported that they were able to resolve the Play Store could not download error by accidentally changing their date and time. If you think your timing is correct, maybe you should try changing it briefly to another time.

7. Removing the SD Card

Not all smartphones support external SD cards, especially premium smartphones. But if your phone supports it and you use an SD card, you have to remove it. The SD card may be damaged, infected with a virus or malware, or may need to be formatted.

If the above method can solve the Play Store can’t download, it’s possible that the SD card won’t allow downloading apps. As you already know, you can install apps and save data on an SD card too.

8. Creating A New Google Account

If all else fails, there may be something wrong with your Google account. There may be settings or permissions that are getting in the way. To make sure that this is not the reason, log out of your main Google account and try downloading the app using a different Google account. If the download works, you should check your Google account settings and permissions.

Go to Settings and tap on Sync or Account based on the smartphone and OS version you are using. Tap Google on account selection.

When you tap More at the bottom of the screen, you will see the option to Remove the account. You can then add a new Google account and check how it goes. Can the Play Store download problem be resolved in this way?

9. Activating Download Manager

Play Store uses an app to manage all downloads and updates on Android smartphones. Check if the Download Manager app has been disabled and if it is, you should enable it.

Go to Settings and tap on Apps. You are looking for System Apps here. Under system apps, you will find Download Manager. Enable it to help the Play Store do its job properly.
